misbehaving mouse

My mouse for the last couple months hasn't been right. The cursor goes all over the screen and not where I want it to go. Tried cleaning rollers, ball and under buttons. Tried changing the settings in Graphics in Performance but still the same. Should I go for optical or what? Any help would be super.

Right now I would recommend borrowing another mouse and seeing if that solves the problem. It could be virus or somethinbg else, although its most the mouse itself. Yes, optical mice are very nice and I don't think I'll ever own a ball mouse again.
