Hello.
I am part of a private LAN with about 200 users. Until recently we connected to a machine 10.0.0.10, and my IP address was 10.0.0.40. I had proxy settings enabled in Internet Explorer, and could get most programs to connect automatically, or with a little configuring. However we were informed that they were changing the settings, I now connect to 10.105.0.2, and my IP address is 10.105.0.22. We were told to unclick all settings in Internet Explorer relating to proxies, so my LAN connection settings in IE have are now all unticked. I can now use all programs eg updating anti-virus, Yahoo messenger, Firebird etc. I can even use e-mule. However mIRC will not connect. I presume that this is due to me not configuring settings, as all other application connect with no difficulty. Why would mIRC have to be configured when all other applications can connect automatically? And would anyone have any idea of what settings I should use. I tryed to contact admin, but they never answer any emails and the LAN is remotely administered.
Any help much appreciated.

At a guess, there is probably a firewall blocking miRC ports (usually port 113) if this port is blocked, look at http://www.borg.com/~chuck/using.htm for info on using other (open) ports. your sysadmin may have blocked these ports / programmes for good commercial reasons or to comply with company policy
