I have a legit edition of XP po and since installing IE7 I keep getting the message "The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are trying to view. The options provided below might help you solve the problem Error number: 0x80004005"

I have searched evrywhere for a solution and am stumped.

Can anyone give me some clues.

Give this one a look and use internet explorer to view it.

I did the second one first and passed with flying colors so went and did the first allowing all users access etc.

Result...same as before.

Try this:

Goto - Tools -> Internet Options ->Advanced ->Reset Internet Explorer Settings (Towards Bottom) -> Click Reset Button

Tried that as well and still the same message. I can connect to the site with the custom or express choice, it commences a scan and then I get the error message.

Any more ideas?

If this is a bunch of sites, download and try this fix..

.if it is only 1 site you are referring to in IE tools, options, security, lower your security settings.

Its only the microsoft update page. After I select custom or express I get this:

[Error number: 0x80004005]

Tried the patch and lowered the security settings but still getting the error.

Also tried a clean boot just in case any other programs were interfering. No luck.

Any ideas guys?
