Microsoft error

Have an error that reads "You may be a victim of software counterfeiting" "This copy of Windows did not pass genuine Windows validation". We are running XP with service Pk3. It put an icon in the task bar and a banner on the desktop. Is there anything I can do to remove this without formatting? Anything in regedit? Thank you inadvance.

Is this a legitimate copy of Windows and have you gone to http://www.microsoft.com/genuine site to validate it?

Or did you install a legitimate copy and your still receive these nagging notifications?

If it's the first one, the correct solution is to go out and purchase a copy of XP or a valid XP CD-key from Microsoft.

If you purchased a genuine copy of XP, you may want to try this site
