Hey,

I can't remember how to stop the Messenger service that allows stupid pop up ads. I'm not reffering to something like Pop up Stoppper, but to the Admin services that start and stop services. Any help would be appreciated.

If you have a router with firewall, just block incoming and outgoing ports 137-139 and 145.
If you have Windows XP, Start - Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Services; select Messenger and I think it's right click - Properties - Disable.
Other Windows versions I'm not sure about.

Or install a software firewall.

3. Double-click Administrative Tools.
4. Double-click Services.
5. Double-click Messenger.
6. In the Startup type list, click Disabled.
7. Click Stop, and then click OK.

Thats fine if you don't intend to use the service but not worth a keystroke if the operator wishes to use it..
