I just put a new build together a few months ago and I don't believe, at least I can't remember if I have run Memtest86 on it since. Today though, I ran it from boot and it started it's test and went to 5% then stopped. That was supposedly the latest version too. Just to be safe I downloaded another install and ran it, but I got the same results.

I am running Vista Basic x64 and have an AMD Phenom Quad Core on an ASUS board with 8 GB's of DDR2 Kingston RAM. I'm wondering that since the processor is x64 that it's not compatible, but I thought I had heard that Memtest is ok with x64.

I did run the built-in Vista Memory diagnostic and showed no errors.

Hello there.

Have you tried running from USB,CD,Floppy?

I would try a diffrent method from the item you used.

Memtest is known to freeze or at least appear to freeze and takes some time to run.

JB.
