Hi... I would like to here your opinion on this ... Right now i have this DDR DIMM MEMORY 400MHZ 512MB PC-3200 and i am thinking of changing it for this RIMM MEMORY 800MHZ 512MB or i could add another of this DDR DIMM MEMORY 400MHZ 512MB PC-3200 ... My question is how much faster would the 800MHZ (512MB) over the 400MHZ (512MB) be ??? Would there be much of a different ??? Also what would be the purpose of having 800MHZ over the 400MHZ with the same RAM ??? ... What would you do more memory or just faster memory ????

PS: I have this Intel P42400-800 - Intel PROCESSOR P4 2.4GHZ 478 512KB 800...

I guess if I had 512 megs of memory, I'd do neither one.

Take a look at this thread for some tests you can do to determine if you would really benefit from more memory at all:

My experiences with memory upgrades are that it makes little subjective difference. After all, the cheaper DDR is being used by most manufacturers because the marginal benefit of faster memory is not great enough.

I realize that I am not really answering your question, but I'd spend the money on the fastest hard drive I could find. That is still the choke-point in computer systems. The mechanical parts are still responsible for the rate-determining step in data transfer. It makes no difference if your car can hit 200 mph if you are stuck in traffic!

Well first off there is no DDR 800MHz the highest DDR speed is PC4200 (DDR 533MHz) and even if you could find 800MHz DDR memory, your motherboard is only capable of using PC3200 (DDR 400MHz)
