XP is not the only issue where ram size is concerned. Your Bios and motherboard play a part in what's recognized and what's not. If the Bios and or Motherboard tell you it has the capability of, it doesn't necessarily mean the system is in that particular state at the moment. What are your motherboard specs? Memory not recognised
I have just added 1G of memory to my Asus A6 laptop (Cel, 1.7 Ghz, 512Mb - extendable to 2G). After I rebooted the laptop, it showed only 1G of ram memory instatalled. It did not recognise the original 512Mb that I had already had. Bios, Task manager, and System properties, they all show 896mB (BECAUSE OF 128mB of shared memory). Everest recognises both DIMMs: DIMM1: Qimonda 64T64020HDL3.7A (DDR2-553, 266mHZ) i DIMM3: Samsung M4 70T2864QZ3-CE6, the new one, (DDR2-667, 333Mhz), but Win XP won't recognise the total of 1,5G. By the way, does the fact that xp cannot recognise 512Mb installed on DIIM1 means that it is not functioning at all, or it is just not displayed? Is there a solution to this problem?
