Am running XP Pro but can,t run the media player.Every time I try ,I get movie ads for some cheap movies and then its shuts off, followed by an error message to send to Microsoft. The computer is also extremely slow I get a stupid message(about toast)in the browser window and occassionally the program running will just shut down with another error message.I,ve run at least six Anti-Virus programs but they all come up clear. My standard program is Norton 6.I have also had that"shellcon Hidden Window" pop up but don,t no what to do with it.Have also gone into "msconfig" and shut down all unidentifyable programs but still no results. Also, my "system restore" will not function.Iknow it has to be some kind of virus or trojan but....?If anybody can help I would be truly grateful.I,m sure it,s simple to someone out there but it's beyond me.MAC6

Hi and welcome. First off, let's move you to Windows XP where you 'may' be able to get some assistance.

I'm going to request that you download hijack this, save it to its own folder, NOT TO THE DESKTOP OR A TEMP FOLDER, scan and post a scan log.

Also, the forums are very busy, especially security, so when you don't receive an answer after a day or so, post back to your thread to get it back to the top again.

Whenever you get your computer cleaned up I'd suggest you switch browsers
to keep your machine from being re-infected. Try Firefox its more secure not
bloated and faster than IE. I use it, and highly recommend the browser.
