I've just now developed yet another problem with WMP. When I go to open it, it just plays an XP error beep and stops opening. No error message and it never really opened to begin with anyway... just double-clicked the icon for WMP and it plays the error sound. I've tried to go through my head with what I've installed since it worked last (which was only a couple of hours ago) and those things were the NFSU Demo, sig2dat, Trillian and the Midown Madness 2 demo. All of those except for sig2dat, have since been uninstalled and XP has been restarted. No go. Can someone help me here? Last time this WMP crap happened, I had to re-install Windows XP. I don't want to do that again, I'm finally getting Windows back into a state that I like.

EDIT: Just tried DivX too, the main program opens but when I try to play a movie file, it gives me a Send/Don't Send.

Just a thought. I had a similar problem last night, and I reinstalled Media Player. I still had my .exe file, so I didn't have to download it again. Worked just fine after that.

I can just re-install WMP like that? I don't still have the installer but if I re-download it, will it just re-install WMP? I wasn't aware that you could even do that...

You may in fact have the installer, open My Computer/program files/Windows Media Player and look for either a folder named Installer or an icon that looks like an open box with a page behind it named mpsetupxp. That is the Windows Media Player Installer

Hey! Thanks very much! I found the installer right where you suggested, ran it and now Media Player works good as new again! You're a lifesaver, if you ever need anything yourself, I'd be happy to return the favor. Thanks! :D
