I recently tried viewing some movie files with the .wmv extension. According to Microsoft, it is a native format to Media Player. I have Media Player 9 on my computer, and it works fine with .avi files and other movie files, but when I try to play a .wmv file, it gives me about the first second of sound, and usually displays the first frame of the movie, then completely locks up the computer. I cannot get a response from CTL-ALT-DEL to access task manager, the mouse won't move. I simply have to press the reset button to get back control of the computer. I have reinstalled Media Player 9, but it happens every time. Microsoft Knowledge base doesn't
