Does Mailwasher handle newsgroup messages? I cannot determine from the manual site or from faq site. However, since the information does not indicate that it will, it probably will not.
Thanks for any response.

Hello hthompson1,
Not being subscribed to any newsgroups I'm not sure I understand your question. If the newsgroup messages come in through your e-mail client/program I would think MailWasher should be able to see the messages on the server and allow the opportunity for the user to add the message sender to the friends list, etc.
Is this not the case? or have I missed your question entirely?

Thanks for your reply.

Well, I am no expert on email or newsgroups, but a large difference between email and newsgroups is that you must subscribe to a newsgroup and then download their messages. In other words, you do not get newsgroup messages sent to you as with email. So I guess you might say that I would be selecting only the ones I wanted to receive therefore should not have unwanted messages. This is true. However, when you download the headers from the newsgroup (normally this will be about 300 plus or minus headers at one time. You do this to see what is in the newsgroup) you get a lot of unwanted headers with undesirable subjects. I do use filters, but it is more difficult to filter with Outlook Express than with Mailwasher. I hope this is not too confusing.

I suppose the messages still come thru my ISP. I have not found any way to do this thru Mailwasher. I may not be able to.

I use Mailwasher also and if your not getting "email" notices, I don't think Mailwasher can detect it. I would suggest using Mailwasher Support and/or the Mailwasher forums. I've used Support once before, it took a couple of days, but they did give me the answer I was looking for.

Yes I agree with bozz, if the messages are not being listed in MailWasher then I do not see how MailWasher could handle them.

More than likely the newsgroups downloads come through a different port other than POP3 port 110.
