Why?!..

Also, is it possible to have Hotmail messages sent to Mail?.. Couldn't find any info on MSN..

There are several reasons why this could be the case.

I'll try describe them as easily as possible, and get you to try somethings which, depending on your computer literacy, you may find difficult.

Why this may be the case
  1. You cannot see the mail server, or connect to it outside your ISPs network
  2. Network problem, cannot resolve the mail servers hostname for instance
  3. The port which SMTP runs under, port 25, is blocked by some kind of firewall

To test these

  1. First, load "Network Utility" from /Applications/Utilities
  2. The first thing to check, is that you can resolve the mail servers hostname. Click on "Lookup" and then type the same address which you have as your outgoing mail server in mail, in the "internet address to lookup" dialog. Click lookup, and post the reply
  3. The next thing to test, will be the connectivity to the mail server. This is slightly harder to test. Load "Terminal" from /Applications/Utilities. You should be given a prompt, ending in a dollar sign. Type "telnet OUTGOINGMAILSERVER 25" replacing OUTGOINGMAILSERVER with the hostname of your outgoing mailserver, and not entering quotation marks. You should get "Trying OUTGOINGMAILSERVER" followed by "Connected to OUTGOINGMAILSERVER" if you do not, then you have some kind of connectivity problem

Post your findings.
