I get an error messege when i start up that says

Lsass - system error

An invalid parameter was passed to a service or function

the screen behind it is all black, it waits five seconds and then restarts


HELP HELP

ps i already tried to use the repair feature on the xp disc

This error can sometimes be generated by the sasser worm. Antivirus software has updates of course to implement protection, but I think this error won't let you into windows to add it. - Thats all I know to tell you, but if no one else has suggestions, google "lsass error" or some variant thereof and you'll find a number of thoughts and perhaps the same problem and a solution.

Don't know if it will work, but to stop automatic shutdown so that you can work on problem - Go to Start -Run - type in "Shutdown -a" (without the quotation marks) and hit enter. Then go to

http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/ and download stinger.exe. If it is a virus or worm, it should remove it.
