Hi everyone. I have been having a lot of trouble with my printer since the last time that I formatted and reinstalled Windows XP Professional. I have been trying to figure this out and I noticed that my Parallel Port (LPT1) is not recognized in Device Manager. There is also no other Parallel Ports listed. I asked about this in my other thread but I though I would make a new thread about this so I could possibly get a quicker answer. Would reformatting and reinstalling Windows XP fix this? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Also, my Parallel Port is attatched to the Mother Board.

Hello Holly:

Before considering formatting and reinstalling you should try the BIOS. Are you familiar with the BIOS? I ask because I do not know your level of expertise. There are settings in the BIOS to enable/disable all ports.

Hi Pyrite. Thanks for the advice. I got a reply in my other thread before I got one here so I went there and they told me to check BIOS. I had never even though to check BIOS until they mentioned it. Anyway, I went in there and for some odd reason my Parallel Port was disabled. So I enabled it and set it to EPP (like they said to) and saved the settings and exited. Thankfully the port is now recognized again and my printer problems are FINALLY solved! Thanks anyways!
