Yesterday I solved some problems with spyware with some help from this site. I've downloaded the suggested software to avoid getting these things. Now it seems I've developed another problem. I can't seem to find my WINNT\System32 folder. It is not in the WINNT folder. I tried to install a new Norton antivirus, and counldn't continue with installation/activation. When the tech support guy from Norton tried to run msconfig, it would not run. Below is a HJT log.
Thanks, Joe

khazars, good to hear from you. Okay, here is the timeline. After you helped me delete the spywar/adware, everything was working fine. I started DLing the tools you suggested that would keep me from getting infected. I got spywarguard and spywareblaster. I first noticed that the system32 folder was missing when I was DL the hosts file, because you said to put it in C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC. It wasn't there so I saved it into another folder in MyDocuments. I later got ie-spyad, it DL alright.

Today I was installing my upgrade from NAV 2003 to NAV 2005. I had a msg that a BHO installation attempt was detected and it would remove the file. I clicked O.K. It installed, asked me to restart, and when the computer restarted, a Norton window opened with the choice of clicking "Next", but nothing happened. I could not get the "next" command to respond, so I closed the window.
I began to think the problem was with having spyguard installed. So I removed spyguard, removed NAV 2005 and then re-installed NAV 2005. I am still having the same problem with the Norton installation window, it is stuck on "Next" and will not respond.
I am also having a problem with ActiveX controls. When I tried to use Norton Online Scan, it told me the ActiveX controls could not be downloaded.
I tried to search for the SYSTEM32 folder, but I can find it any where.
My folder options are set to show all folders, and my security setting are set to "medium"
Any suggestions.
