I was using Internet Explorer to access my webmail. I composed a message of around 2000 words, and I won't be able to reproduce this if I can't get it back. What happened was is I started to add an attachment, and the webmail service said I had to log back in. If I do this, my message will be lost. This has happened before, but I was using Opera and it let me go back to the page with my message on it. But now with Internet Explorer, it loops back to the "You must login" page when I click back. The pages won't work at all if I choose work offline.

I still have Internet Explorer up, but I'm worried that while clicking back and forward the text got erased. Still, this is EXTREMELY important to me. If there is no other way, I need to know if I can search Internet Explorer's allocated RAM for the text. I have SoftICE, but I don't know crap on how to use it. There's also Debug.com, but I doubt it can find where the Internet Explorer data is.

I'm very desperate and willing to do pretty much anything. Please help.

Fun fact: As I went to fill up my glass of water, my flashlight broke. It happened right as I turned it on, so I suspected the bulb burnt out. But I checked it out, and the bulb looks fine. Kinda strange, considering it's brand new. But I think it fits in well with the rest of my night. Lessee, what'll happen next?

Just so you know, the e-mail server didn't store my message. It was only in a dialogue box. That means that if I were able to pull it up with the browser, it'd have to be in the temporary cache (RAM). I need a way to search the RAM for Internet Explorer, or some way to get to it inside the browser. The only thing I can think of is to use a debugger to search it, and I do have one of those. I just don't what steps to take or commands to use to find it. Yeah...

Okay. So none of you have any idea on how to use a debugger. That's okay. Do you know of any websites that show how to find stuff in RAM? All I can find are articles about reverse engineering and cracking. What the heck could be so hard with what I need to do? How about this -- would any other area in these forums be able to help me out? Eh?

Sorry for your bad night. It happens to many of us. Web mail is very unreliable when it comes to malfunctions and losing emails.

The term debugger that I am aware of, is for debugging machine code. i.e. a program. That's not going to help you.

If you know DOS and are brilliant, you can use PEEK and POKE commands to get into memory. I doubt that 1 out of 500,000 people would know what addresses to PEEK into.

Only thing I can say is perhaps start your emails in notepad or wordpad and and paste them into your web emails.
