Lost hard drive

I performed a full system recovery on my Satellite l755-s5153 about two weeks ago. since then it had been running excessively sluggish. As of about two days ago, i finally went to run the various windows updates, as they finally downloaded. I get up the next morning and turn on my computer just to get the atheros error message that shows no bootable device installed. I attempted a static discharge, and re-seated the HDD twice to no avail. I am wondering if it is feasible to run the drivers for said hdd through a usb drive as well as the satellite boot disk for my system? Any assistance will be appreciated.

Toshiba Satellite L755-S5153 Laptop (support and driver downloads site)
It appears it originally came with Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit and appears to have these primary devices:
Intel HM65 chipset
Intel HD graphics
Conexant audio
Atheros or Intel or Realtek 802.11b/g/n wireless
Realtek ethernet
Synaptics touchpad

Do the following in that laptop so we have a better picture of its hardware and operating system:
Download and save the TSG System Information Utility (SysInfo.exe) file.
After it's been downloaded and saved, double-click it to run it.
Information about your computer will appear.
Return here to your thread, then copy-and-paste the ENTIRE text here.

What's the complete part/model number on that laptop?
(2 sets of characters separated by a dash comprises that number)

I attempted a static discharge
I have no idea what that means....at all.

shows no bootable device installed.
This generally means that the hard drive has failed.

I would pull the HDD and attach it to another PC and see if it can be accessed. If it can the HDD is still good and that the MBR and Boot Loader is corrupted or missing.

Static discharge is a process I learned when I worked computer helpdesk. You unplug the laptop, remove the battery, and hold the power button for about 30 seconds. Supposed to help release any built up static in the system

That's not static discharge....that's a power discharge. You can not discharge static electricity. You can only protect a device from static electricity by grounding said device/object.

But, you are correct in the procedure of a power discharge.
