Lost Documents

Hi all, I'm hoping that someone can help me find an answer to a pretty big problem.

While editing a paper in Word, the document closed out. I searched everywhere for it, and followed all the instructions on every website I could find about recovering files. Nothing has worked so far.

The document exists now only as a blank one from 2 weeks ago with no other versions anywhere. I checked the recycling bin, the recovery function, and followed every direction. The document just doesn't seem to exist. I saved it repeatedly, even as close as a minute before it closed, but I can only find the one that's blank from 2 weeks ago.

Does anybody have any idea how this could happen or what I could try to find it? It's a term paper so I would be incredibly grateful.

Hi ricochetfyre, and welcome to TSG.

I don't know how anyone here can offer specific help without knowing exactly what version of MS-Word you are using and the exact operating system running on your computer. It would also help if you told us what you have already tried so that we do not waste time suggesting things that have not worked for you.

Were you saving the file on a local hard drive, USB thumb drive, in the cloud, or somewhere else?

Did the document close on its own and MS-Word kept running or did MS-Word shut down in the middleof editing?
