Locate32 has problem creating new database file

I use Locate32 to search and index my computer. In particular, I can use it to index all the shared files on our network. It was running pretty well until recently. When it says the database file was corrupt, I decided to just delete it and let the program create a new database file. However, when I reopened Locate32, the message I'm getting is "error with database default: cannot open database". So, I go under setting, delete the database link under Database, select New, type in "C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Locate32\database.dbs" under File, exit the application, and reopen it. I still get the same message: "error with database default: cannot open database". Locate32 appears to be working on searching all the hard drives for files to add to it's database. However, I would expect it to, at least, create a database.dbs file. Do I need to let it finish a complete scan of my drives after deleting the database file before it will create a new file or should it automatically create a database file after I delete the old one and reopen the application?

So, not having anything to do that requires the heavy use of computer resources, I decide to open the application, do a manual scan of the drives, and see if it picks up anything. After it finished, I typed in a file name and it found it. I went to where the database file was supposed to be located and a new database.dbs file was there. At this point, I'm going to assume that I have to perform and complete a manual scan at least once after deleting the database.dbs file before Locate32 will create a new database.dbs file.
Hi

Am I right in thinking this is solved? If not, or just in case it happens again, one of the suggestions is to update the database, which is via the File menu, or clicking F9, as stated by the developer here:

The reason I looked at the Update Database, was because it was also mentioned here, when someone had an issue with the databse:

Thanks

Technically, yes, it's solved. I was aware that you could update the database via the file menu or F9. What I didn't know was that it had to complete one full scan of all the hard drives I had selected before it would create a new database.dbs file after I deleted the old one.

Glad its all working, and that you managed to find out what was the cause, well as in completing the full scan, not the fact that the database was corrupt in the first place ;)

If you want to mark this as solved, its dead easy (yeah, right). Just click on the 3 dots above your thread:

Then select Edit Thread, and select the Solved Prefix:
