Lenovo laptop won't backup to my passport

Once a few months ago under waranty I somehow got it to backup. I'll press backup now in settings and it'll appear to want to work for a second then it will jump back to the status saying back up now with the last backup remaining last year.

You failed to give needed information. What is the exact model of Lenovo?
1. What version of Windows is on the Lenovo?
2. What program are you using to backup?
3. Size and remaining drive space left on the My Passport device?
4. Is the My Passport device shown on the computer and have you selected it as the target for the backup?
