Dell Laptop - Action Tech 1520 Modem - DSL Connection through Qwest

The modem has 4 ports, all four have been tested and are working. All wiring has been tested and is working. Two desktop computers are connected to the modem and work fine. When the laptop is connected to the 3rd or 4th port, no connection is established and the error message reads "cable unplugged". (Computer is not reading the modem through the NIC).

However: When the laptop is connected to another DSL connection (also Qwest), different modem, it reads the NIC and the connection is established just fine.

Qwest's answer is "don't know", Action Tech suggested updatein the firmware on the modem - done, no help.

I'm out of ideas, anyone else have a clue?

Are the 2 other PC's on this one device working fine? Can you unplug one of the 2 PC's plug in the laptop on the known good port and see if it sees it? It may be the device itself has a couple of bad ports/
