ive got a compaq Evo1020v and one day the touchpad/mouse looses its "button" functions, moves cursor ok. so....i was just living with it, then after restarting my computer one day it worked, however, the "scroll" button stopped working and the mouse touch function started working. turned off the computer at end of day, then next day back to the beginning.

my question is....this sounds like software to me, but i dont know where to start looking, windows help doesnt do any good

thanks

well, i downloaded what i thought would be the driver and upon installation it says that the one on my computer is newer than the one i downloaded, it was the only option to download. then it says to uninstall the old one first, BUT i may not be able to use my "pointing device". well how the heck am i gonna install the new driver without it.

keep in mind, im a novice here!!
thanks

It may be newer, but it also may be corrupted. Try reinstalling the same one again ;)

I am also looking for a solution to laptop button anomolies. Mine are mostly related to the scroll button, (the one between the left and right button) not working at all. Other funtions seem to work well such as the touchpad on/off button. I am still looking...and will post solutions as I find them. :)
