Are these programs being used by you or the laptop? By this, does it happen when your watching a movie and haven't touched the keyboard or mouse?
If so, it may just be your power settings (your power save mode may be active).
Right click on the desktop>left click properties>click screensaver>left click power. You can check your settings from there.

my laptop does the same thing except when mine shuts down i have to wait a while before ican turn it on cuz it turns off. i think mine could be over heating. if it is overheating it never used to happen. just started a few months ago.im open to suggestions and ideas. could it be dust
