After reading and posting on this thread, I began to think about the HDD temps my Dell Inspiron laptop were running as compared to my old desktop machine. So I did a little research about it and found a couple of items of interest for aiding the cooling of a laptop.

Just wondered if anyone has used those cooler pads (click here to take a look) which is basically just a pad about the same dimensions as the laptop bottom surface area, with a fan powered by USB. My HDD temps are running 111°F -114°F under normal use at room temperature. It's well known elevated temperatures results in accelerated degradation over time.

My impression is the main reason most people use these devices is more associated with personal comfort (heat on the thighs) than actual improvement in cooling the internal components of the laptop.

As alway, any and all opinions and thoughts are appreciated.
