Laptop display turning on and off randomly

Hello, I have been experiencing issues with my laptop recently. I have a laptop that is set up with an external monitor used as the main monitor, and at random intervals while in use, the screen shuts on and off, completely going black for slightly less than a second. I have tried using a different cable, as well as a different monitor with no luck, however whenever I use the laptop on its own the screen doesn't flicker at all. I have also noticed while I was using a docking station temporarily with the same monitor and cables, that the issue wouldn't occur either. Is there any way I can fix this?

In order to understand better what we are dealing with here, please download and run the TSG System Information Utility on the affected PC, and then post the results back to this thread.

How are you connecting the monitor to the laptop? What sort of cable are you using? HDMI, DisplayPort, VGA?

I am using an hdmi cable through the port on the laptop, and I tested the same laptop with different hdmi cables and monitors, with the same issue.
That suggests to me there may be a hardware issue with the HDMI port on the laptop, since you've tested other hardware with it and it's exhibiting the same issues. I would balance out the cost of having the port repaired/replaced against using a docking station on a permanent basis, presupposing you'd have to purchase one.
Ok, thanks for the help
