I turned my computer on and my system tray icon changed from the grayish K with an oval around it to a gray square with a blue K in it. What happened? Anybody have any info on this?
Just try right -cliking on it -> Properties -> Change Icon -> Select the correct Icon -> Apply -> OK, this should change it back. One or two of my desktop shortcuts changed from what they were to the MS-DOS icon. Only twice in about three years though.
I have just searched Google and one of the responces I got from my search criteria, was that another user has had the same problem, but there wasn't anything to be done. Here's the Link so you can have a look: http://www.computing.net/windows95/wwwboard/forum/144888.html
But that is just one persons responce, atleast you know it is not only your problem and it seems normal.
Hey WIZ,
Thank you for your help, but one problem let me explain my self again.
I have kazaa lite, the icon in the system tray was always a circular K, then i turn my computer on the other day and the icon changed from the circular K to the gray square with a blue K. I do not know how this happened, I have used kazaa for a while.
Should i be worried about this? Cause i just got rid of a virus on my computer.
This is a long shot, as I am not sure what O/S you are using ect. s so I don't know if it will work the same. But what I have just tried on my own system regarding this is with one of my system tray icons is:
Open Windows explorer -> Windows -> click on the + to expand the menu -> scroll down to Startup click + to expand that menu -> programs -> (selected WinMx) as this is what I use, the icon for WinMx then appears in the right hand pane -> right-click it select properties -> change Icon. There should be a few to select from, choose the origional icon (grayish K with an oval around it) (is that correct)....Click apply then OK. You may need to reboot, not sure. This should return it to normal. As for why this happened I don't know. You know how computers can decide to change things when they feel like it, that could have been the problem.
The Kazaa icon may have a different location than mine, but look around Windows Explorer and you will find it.
If reading this is a little confusing, let me know I will tidy it up for you.
Hey, this happened to me too just today. Well, today was the first day I used Kazaa for a few days. It worries me cause I wonder where the change came from...I am the only one that uses this computer.....
The only thing that I think could have anything to do with it if I inadvertently caused the change, is....
Just yesterday I ran msconfig and decided to change my startup cause it was getting slow and I was wondering what programs had worked their way in there. I de-selected a few, though I'm pretty sure Kazaa wasn't part of any of them, but who knows, it could have something to do with it.
Any word on this? I'm using XP, and my problem is exactly the same...the icon changes to the blue K in a greenish background, less sleek looking, and located in the quicklaunch or wherever that bar is with the clock.
Thanks
yeardley
Removing Kazaa from your startup via msconfig, should not do anything like that, also if Kazaa is in your msconfig startup menu unselect it, you don't need that running at startup. As for the icon changing, it's quite possibly nothing you have done, from time to time mine have changed on two seperate systems, it's just one of those things. Is the icon now Ok, or is it still a problem? If so have you right-clicked the icon -> Properties -> Shortcuts tab -> Change icon, then select your icon -> OK. Hope this helps.
The icon is where the clock is....I'm not sure if there's typically a "properties" option when you rick click on those icons, but there isn't one for the Kazaa-lite icon. It's a tiny one...when you right click it's like: Show Kazaa, Jump Supernode...that kind of thing.
I just read on the Kazaa forum that you have to change your color depth, and that worked for one guy on there, but it didn't just work for me, although my color had been changed by somebody or something to 16 bit from 32, so I changed it back.
That guy, like me, had recently updated his video drivers. I just updated DirectX....
Somewhere else on the forum someone alluded to RIAA changing the settings on peoples computers in relation to this....what do you think? I dont want the RIAA screwing with my computer.
I only use Kazaa to download porn anyways...what's their problem?
Well at least your honest, only using it to download porn....Have you tried what I posted earlier:
Open Windows explorer -> Windows -> click on the + to expand the menu -> scroll down to Startup click + to expand that menu -> programs -> the icon then appears in the right hand pane -> right-click it select properties -> change Icon. There should be a few to select from, choose the origional icon (grayish K with an oval around it) (is that correct)....Click apply then OK. You may need to reboot, not sure. This should return it to normal.
The Kazaa icon may have a different location than mine, but look around Windows Explorer and you will find it. I cannot be 100% as I use 98se.
