hello

i just installed Red Hat linux 9 and it never asked me for a root password only a username and password at the 1st boot

now when i try to change anything it asks for a root password which i dont have

what should i do /??

in your lilo or grub config did you put the single at the end of the actual line that looks like

hda(0,0) bzimage root=\dev\hda3

(doing this from memory so excuse the inproper syntax)

so that it looks like

hda(0,0) bzimage root=\dev\hda3 single ?

as far as the default pass I believe that it's either there isn't one, or its going to be root.
