Java RMI Problem

1116 Views 2 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  HansOle
Hi

I have a LAN with an XP-rofessional and an old Windows95 machine. I have been using Java RMI to have my Java programs communicate (usually so that the XP is server - the other client). This has suddently stopped working so that I consistently get connection refused.

I wonder wheter this is connected to my installing some XP security patches and how to allow my programs to communicate again.

Can anybody help?

Hans

Is your Windows XP firewall enabled?
Hi Mithrilhall

I'm sorry but I am sort of a beginner to this. But when I check with the control panel I see that the Windows firewall is set to 'on' but 'don't allow exceptions' is not selected.

1. Could this have been done 'behind my back' while upgrading to sp2? Because RMI used to work.

2. How do I allow RMI as an 'exception' to the firewall.

Best regards
Hans
