Hi All, I'm new to the forum. I read a thread started by a member "Luckystrike" who cemented a crown that had come off a tooth with J.B. weld. The thread was written Feb 2,2008. Thinking of doing the same thing. Is there a way to contact him to find out if his fix worked well. Thanks in advance for any help. Mike.

I would go to the dentist myself..it shouldnt be to high.
getting the crown originally is very high. as all the work needed.
if you use a home remedy on that tooth and have problem..you will not find a dentist that will put the crown back on.
he might even do a freebie if its not to old of a crown....some dentists do have a heart believe it or not

I found this thread to be a big help to read the info and "Thank You' for posting it , sharing the info with others like me who have crowns also. My crowns were $2200.00 five years ago. That was for only two.

Thanks guys! really appreciate the replies. I will be using the dental repair kit until I can get the bucks together for a new crown and inplant. The inplant dentist wants $2800 and my regular dentist want an additional $700 for a cosmetic partiall and $1200 for the actual crown that goes on the inplant post. I don't know why I'm telling you all this other than to just vent. I just think it is outragious what these guys charge. What can you do. They know they have you over a barrel. Am I wrong????

The charges for dental care are really absurd.

But I guess that is the price to pay when it takes all those years to get that paper to hang on the wall.

Too bad that a dentist could not start at dental school right off the bat out of high school. Why do they need the rest of the BS they have to take. Not as if taking bowling, astronomy and english is going to make them more qualified.

Well, I can probably put the $5k together for the tooth but out of principal I refuse to pay. I have found a maxilliary surgeon. Credentials look good. In Tijauana, Mexico. Total cost for inplant and crown $1400. Comes with very good recomendation. I will let you know how things turn out.

Tis the life of us Americans..lookin for J.B.weld other than a dentist...because we just can't afford it..nor insurance...sad time indeed..so all of you that wish to say it's socialism to deserve decent health care..you've miss the mark...look at the big picture and what these insurance companies have done in the last few years...you use your J.B. weld if ya need to...but blame it in the right direction ;)

I have been using JB Waterweld to reset two crowns since I posted about it, The one in front held for about a month the first time I tried it, When I set the front tooth the second time, I shortened the tooth using sand paper before setting it so that the adjacent teeth do most of the work and take most of the force, It has held now for about a year and counting.

The second tooth is a molar. I have only had limited success with that tooth, I have had to re-do it about every other month. If you do not get a good seal under the tooth, then the JB Weld decomposes.

When setting the tooth I first try to clean and sterilize the root stump as best I can with Listerine or peroxide, I use canned air and cotton balls to try to dry it. I use toothpicks and swabs to remove and smooth the excess that squeezes out from under the tooth when I set it. There is some inflammation of the gum the first day as the JB Weld cures.

If I could split into two people and stand outside to work on myself, I think it would be easier and would have better results,

I actually have dental insurance, but I have no faith in the "preferred" dentists that I have to go to under my plan. My self dentistry has so far held up about five times longer than the work on the same teeth that was done by the green-behind-the-ears kid dentists that I have to go to.

Crowns are often slightly loose or breaking contact before they're noticed.
Decay can and does start from bacteria entering during that period.
Self dentistry sounds like a risk for a future root canal.....
