I want to upgrade to itunes 7.0 and when i try to install quicktime i get the following error message:



Then the installation rolls back :eek:

When i try to acces the key in regedit i get this message:



I cant change the permissions of the key either :down:

I have tryed doin it in other admin accounts and in safe mode.. still no luck

ohh and if it helps i use Windows XP :)

Help please!!?! :up:

Try uninstalling itunes and ran MS Installer Cleanup Utility. If the Clean-up Utility finds any remnants of itunes, run the program to clean it. Then reinstall.

If you want to keep your playlist/playcounts, make a copy of your itunes data to another folder, as I don't recall if that will get purged.

I had that error on my laptop, when I tried to upgrade from 4.x itunes to 7.x. MS Cleanup was able to fix the error.

Have you tried a reg cleaner? Can you uninstall quicktime? Do any other accounts exists on the computer who might have access to the keys?

There was also a previous thread that had an access key problem, they got it solved through this:

Thanks that help abit i now have acces and permissions to that folder but there is not a CLSID within the 'QuickTimePlayerLib.QuickTimePlayerApp' Folder. I still have an unsucessful instalation :(
