I have photos from my DSLR Camera that when I transferred to my PC cannot be viewed/opened it just show "it looks like we don't support this file format" some are viewable but the rest are not almost 200+ photos, tried recovery tools but still nothing, also tried renaming and converting but still does not work can someone help me please. Nikon Electronic Format (NEF) is a proprietary format used by Nikon. I recommend going to the page below and downloading their software, since this will allow you to view the images. With respect to the JPG files not opening: I'm guessing you tried simply renaming the file extension from NEF to JPG? If so, rename them back and you'll be able to open them with the Nikon software.
