Hi folks
Hope someone out there can help me.

Not being a tecchie at all, I had a situation 2 days ago where although the internet seemed to be connected fine to my PC, I could not open any web page.

I now realise I should have just turned off the router, rebooted the PC etc, but instead I took the following (with hindsight) ridiculous course of action.

I uninstalled the WG111 Netgear Wirless Adapter and went to reinstall it. Except the driver I put in the drive was the wrong one (a v2 driver - the v2 adapter is on another PC).

Of course, when I came to plug in the wireles adapter, it could not find it. After several uninstall/reinstalls, losing my tether, I noticed after an uninstall that there were on SEARCH still several items showing NETGEAR. SO, I hit DELETE from Explorer as I thought that might be the problem.

On next attempt to instal, I got an error message along lines of IsRes.dll could not be installed. (location - Documents/Local Settings/Temp)

And that is where I am up to now. I have clearly deleted a file which the adapter needs to access to open.

The situation is that the NETGEAR Adaper icon is on my desktop but it will not open and the PC will not recognise the adapter when I plug it in to USB. Have plugged it into 5 different USB slots, so that is not the culprit. I am sure it is this IsRes.dll thing. I for sure do not want to have to reinstal WINDOWS (XP) if I can aviod it!!! I have tried system restoer to several different earlier points, also to no avail.

ANy help will be much appreciated.
THanks in anticipation!!

Hi - hope I'm doing the right thing and not jumping the gun but so far I seem to be the only poster with no replies. starting to get seriously worried that I have or have created a new or unique problem!

Please if anyone can offer any help at all, I would really appreciate it. If this is not he best spot for my post or if you know of a .dll specific forum, that would also be helpful.

I have changed the title as my last post was a bit misleading - the error message was that it could not instal the .dll

Should also mention that I have tried the latest driver - exactly same problem.
Regards
MM
