Wondering if someone might tell me the answer to this question.............I have Comcast for my ISP and would like to put it on my laptop so I might take it with me in the summers. I have tried to get an answer from Comcast three times and each time it comes back with an FAQ as to the answer. Would anyone know about this?

Thank you so much,
Ezy

I hope this is in the right place!!

Hi ezy,

This is going to depend on whether comcast have a POP (Point of Presence) wherever it is you want to travel to.

If they do, it's a simple matter to create a Dial-up networking account with your existing username and password, but dialling into that local POP number.

Now, what connection type do you have from Comcast and what exactly do you want to put on your laptop?

BTW, it would be better off in the Internet forum, but no biggie. If no on ein here can help with your question, we can get a Moderator to move it there for you;):D

Hi Randy,
Sorry my question wasn't in the correct place. Would you please tell me where I should put it? Also when I first started asking questions on Tech Support Forums I would receive an email telling me someone answered; if there was a way to click/unclick something on I sure don't remember what it was.

Thanks,
Ezy

Putting your ISP on your laptop is like saying you want to download the internet. If you have internet access anywhere in the world you can more than likely access your email and get to any internet resources you want. Getting onto the internet is the main factor to concern yourself with. Ask your ISP if they have local access numbers (via modem) in the area you are going to be in or find a place to stay with broadband internet access. Your ISP probably has a web mail option for accessing email from any internet connected PC. There are lots of options here.

don't worry about posting in the wrong place, ezy. I was just informing you, cause you made that statment at the bottom of your first post.

No need to post it anywhere else.

as to how to turn on/off the notification option, at the top right of every page, you will see links, one of which is your User Panel.

Click on that and then go to Edit Options. The 6th option down is Use 'Email Notification' by default? and make sure the tick is in Yes if you want the emails sent, or no for no notification.

Of course, at the bottom of every Post Reply box, there is also an option to receive email notifications. The User Panel info above just determines what the default setting is.

My answer came today from Comcast (something I could under-
stand what they meant) and that is I'd have to use Comcast on another place that had a modem just like the one I'm using here at home or else........go to a dial-up connection to get the email everyday. Now I don't know how to do that as my laptop doesn't have any kind of connection to the internet. I've been asking people about how to get Yahoo going but haven't gotten any answers that tell me how to connect.

Thanks "guys" for trying to help me.

Ezy
