Is it normal to have 100% CPU usage during a DVD transcoding and burning operation?? . . .And is that OK for the health of one's computer?

Using XP Home with Pentium 4 2.4 GHz, 512 MB RAM, with my new LiteOn 16X DVD-+RW with the Nero Express and Nero Vision Express software that came with the drive.

Everything seems to be working well. I opened Task Manager & under "Performance" saw the "CPU usage" indicator thing sort of pegged all the way to the top. Had never seen that before, but I'm not always looking at that thing, of course.

Will appreciate any input here.

You realize that faster dvd burner has a high system requirement? My 16x LG requires P4 2.4Ghz. So 100% CPU usage is not abnormal. If you try that drive in a p3 or p2, it wouldn't burn at 16x. Time to look up your drive manual.

Jimmy - You can crank the speed up all the way, 100% isn't bad, it just means that you won't be able to multi task very well. I always burn at the max speed.
