I'm in the market for a new system but budget is low. The system will be used mainly for surfing (not really games)... I found this and was wondering if this sounds good .

2.2 Ghz AMD Athlon XP 2400-3200, 256-512MB (3200 DDR) (FAST!), Cd-RW 54x32x54 DVD 12x (Sony and Memorex Drives), Alienware Case, 40-80-120GB Brand New, 128-256 Ati Radeon/Nvidia/Gforce4 (YOU CHOOSE). Semi Glass Panel Case with lighted internals. Excellent for Game of Office use

It's being sold for $300, is it worth it?

You're not really posting much info. Is $300 the base configuration?

There's quite a few factors that will determine if it's worth it..
1. What motherboard?
2. What brand/wattage power supply?
3. What video card?

I could build a system with a pcchips or machspeed KT400 based board w/integrated video, a 2200+ cpu, a cheapo power supply, with a cheapo cdrw and sell for less, and it would be junk to me....

Although, if the system included a halfway decent vid card, a nforce2 based board, and a quality power supply it'd be worth it.

in addition to the post from gotrootdude

you have some info like
256-512MB (3200 DDR)
Is it 256 or is 512MB - memory
128-256 Ati Radeon/Nvidia/Gforce4 (YOU CHOOSE)
when you choose the 256 does the price go up !!!!
40-80-120GB Brand New
again which is it

a system
40GB HDD
128 Graphics
256MB memory is really the very basic being sold now......in UK probably around the £200 - 300 mark - dont convert because the states are so much cheaper on hardware then UK anyway

Excellent for Game of Office use
may not be excellent at that minimum config for games

If you post the exact max specs for that price...
