Is there a program or a way to add searchable comments to filenames so I can search the comments later on. I generate a ton of file names in the work I do and over time I begin to lose track of what was done when. My ignorance may be bliss sometimes but not on this matter. Thank you in advance for any replies.

under file properties you can put comments - i dont know how searchable they are - but i think windows will search for keywords
you may want to test
create a file
right click
properties
summary tab
add some keywords

and then search

Not sure if this is what you are looking for but if you right-click on a file, choose Properties and then select the Summary tab, you can add Comments. I tried this and then did a normal Windows Search for files containing the text I entered in the Comments field and it did find the file.

In addition to the built in Windows functionality described above, I searched online for an add on tool and found a few. I only tried one: FileNote
FileNote adds a right-click menu option that basically creates a text file with the same name as the original file. So you'd end up with tons of text files floating about but since it's just a txt file, you could add as much text/info as you wanted and of course they would be text searchable. Of course you could create these files on your own without the need for this util.
