Is it legal to make a minor edit to an application if I don't distribute it commercially?

And if so, how would I go about this- finding the written code, editing it, etc.?
Thanks,

Hi

If this isn't open source code and freely distributed by the owner/developer of the actual application, then no, its not legal.

Which program is this, as you may be best contacting the application's owner?

Thanks

The owner of the application I'm looking to edit is a major developer- Thanks!
Then you may be out of luck, you will need to contact the company that own the application to ask if you can have the right to edit. I have a feeling if its a major developer the answer will be no

Yes. No. Depends.

No - you cannot modify the code then distribute the new code. Distribute includes selling, posting it out there in a public place, or giving it away. No exceptions.

No - you cannot modify the code (even for personal use, by you only) then use that code to access another party. For example, you cannot modify a bank's online banking app, then use that code to access that bank.

Yes - you can modify the code if and only if the new code will stay local on your personal computer, to be used only by you, for your own personal, non-commercial, not-for-profit use.
Regardless, as already stated in another thread we cannot help with this as it's a deceitful practice.

Closing thread.
