I have just added a DVD-CD/RW combi drive onto my PC which runs on Win98 se. The Burning software works ok but when I try to install WinDVD I keep getting the error message Invalid RPC stub and its not just the WinDVD software its doing this on I also have Xara Webstyle 2 running on my mothers computer fine but again won't install an mine.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I can remedy this, if so then I would greatly appriciate it

You can try this.

You may have a Version of the RPC Stub, that the InstallShield Program is not looking for, that was installed by a new program.

Goto the following Microsoft Web site, and save the Mcrepair.exe file to the desktop.

http://download.microsoft.com/download/msninvestor/patch/1.0/win98/en-us/mcrepair.exe

Then run Mcrepair.exe

When it prompts you to overwrite Newer files, make sure you click YES for each file.

Restart your computer after you run Mcrepair.exe

This will repair and re-register the Oleaut32.dll, Olepro32.dll, Asycfilt.dll, Stdole2.tlb files.

Note:You may want to make copys of these files and put them in a safe place just incase before running the mcrepair.exe tool, although I've never encountered a problem running the mcrepair.exe tool.

I've just downloaded the program and saved it to disc and I'll try it when I get home, as I'm around my mothers at the mo.
