i have a friend with a pavillion1473w and i have a dell dimmensione310

i am connected to my cable modem and i can get internet just fine but he can not connect when i plug the same line in to his computer.

i have checked his internet drivers, and updated them, and set them back to the original ones.

we used the command prompt ipconfig/all and that did nothing but tell me that he had no ip address.

we were able to connect using a hub to my computer so i know that his Ethernet line is working.

we were unable to get an ip address to configure on his computer. we have all the lan settings and recognition software set to automatic.

i bought a new pci Ethernet card to see if it was a hardware/software issue. the card did nothing.

i spoke with the netgear operator for about 2 hours trying to trouble shoot what was wrong.

the computers motherboard is fine because all of his programs run on it but yet why cant he connect to the internet.

every time we try to acquire an ip address it just says limited or no connectivity please help:confused::confused::confused:
