So recently i've started having this problem where when connected to my 5GHz network if I am connected to a specific person my internet will cut out shortly after connecting with them. This does not occur when on the 2.4GHz network and only happens with one person. As far as I know, there is no other person that causes this issue, unfortunately for me, this is the person who i'm talking to the most. It happens no matter what platform i'm using whether it's discord, facebook, skype, and presumably anything else I could try. It doesn't have to be a direct connection either, for example discord call with this person or on a server connected to a chat with 5 other people.
Obviously this doesn't help you at all. But in my 20+ years of IT work, I've never heard of a remote user being able to or causing a disconnect. Especially when using multiple platforms. Some where you're actually not even connected directly to them.
I think your issue is something else.
Does this happen on more than one device? For instance; If you use your computer and a smartphone, does it do the same on both?
It doesn't happen on all my devices, only my desktop. I am confident it is the one person causing the disconnect. Ive tested it where I'll sit in a chat with other people for 15 minutes with no issues then tell them to join. When they join, within 15 seconds my internet will disconnect and I'll be forced to switch to 2.4. Its for sure something to do with my desktop itself but I cant for the life of me figure out what that is. Unfortunately I cant just hardwire in
