I have an older PC running the Windows 98SE update installed over Windows 95. I am now having problems with my Primary and Secondary IDE controllers. Intel no longer supports the drivers and I can't locate the drivers anywhere.
Anyone have any ideas?
If the Intel Application Accelerator driver will not work for your system, then the Intel ATA Ultra Storage Driver should. The two drivers support different chipset families, with the Application Accelerator supporting the more recent chipsets. Although the latest version of the Ultra Storage driver is available from that link, Intel is no longer updating it because they no longer produce the chipsets that used it. The Intel Chipset Identification Utility can tell you which chipset you have.
Before installing the IDE/ATA driver, it is a good idea to make sure that the chipset INF files are installed. The INF files may or may not be needed. If they are not, the INF installation utility will say so.
