Installing cd drive to 486

I would like to fit a cd rom drive in my sons 486 there is only 1 IDE socket i had a 486 with a cd rom which only had 1 IDE socket so i know that it can be done but am not sure if cd should be master or slave or wether i need to alter anything in the BIOS please help as i would like to get this computer up & running properly thanks

The harddrive has to be master, the cdrom would be slave

You would have to enable the primary slave ide and set it for either auto or cdrom
