Hi,

I have a PII machine with a 5gig hard drive. I have a spare 2gig HD laying around. I would like to install the 2nd hard drive in. I know how to physicaly to install the HD, my question is do I put an OS on the 2nd HD or just FDISK/FORMAT and be done??

The Question that you are really asking is how do you perform a dual boot. Try this out

if you already have an OS on the computer and just want to use the 2nd hard drive to store data on then you don't need to dual boot OR install an OS on the 2nd drive. just install the drive in your case and format the drive in windows (assuming you don't want to partition it so it looks like two drives and you don't want to save any of the data on the drive).

after the drive is installed, open click on 'my computer' and right-click on the newly installed drive. there should be 'format....'
