My brother installed some new RAM on his Sony Vaio. He didn't know how so I walked him through the installation over the phone. He installed it without issues, but when he started up the computer it keeps restarting over and over.

I went over last night and took a look, and it seems to restart itself after trying to load windows. It will give me the prompt to start windows into safe mode sometimes, but not all the time. Odd thing is that when I try and go in through safe mode, some times it will load up fine until the screen where you choose your user for windows. Right when you click the user that you want to choose it restarts. That has happened more than once.

I was able to load into the BIOS screen, where it is recognizing the new RAM that was installed. I tried tinkering around with some settings in the BIOS but I have limited experience with BIOS so I didn't want to screw things up more.

I took out the new RAM and tried to get the computer going with just the old RAM and it is doing the same thing. I am at a loss. Any suggestions?

If I can't get it going by tonight I am going to do a system recovery. I loaded up the recovery disk and it looks like that will work, but cancelled so I can ask you all. I am going to save that as my final option.

Any advice/tips/input is welcome from all you computer gurus.
