Installation problems with almost every game

Hi, my first post here.

My OS is a Windows 2000 and I'm having some problems installing applications, mainly games.

Today I tried to install "Unreal Tournament 2004", but at disk 5, Windows gave me the "Wrong Volume" error, telling me to insert the disk inserted already. But to no avail, the installation refused to continue and failed. After that, the CD drive can't read any disc at all until I restarted.

This also happen to "Beyond Good & Evil". I cleaned the CD drawer and tried again to install Beyond Good & Evil, but get an error, something about "file transfer error".

Since the 2 games above have more than 2 CDs, I tried to install "Max Payne 2" and "Silent Storm", but both got file transfer error.

The only game successfully installed is "Need For Speed Underground."

Anti Virus was disabled during all of the installations.

What is wrong with my PC? Any help/suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like a bad CD drive, or a bad IDE cable to me...if you have any other CD drives, try installing it with them, and if you have an extra IDE cable, try it with that...you can also try copying the entire CD onto the hard drive, and installing it from there, but that probably won't work with such new games, because of the copy protection stuff.
