Install XP Home on a 1999 PC?

I have a 1999 Micron Millennia Max 733MHz P3 computer with 384MB RAM and a 28GB HD. These specs meet the requirements for installing XP Home... but I'm skeptical. I've had lots of problems with Win98SE, the current OS on the machine; too many crashes, etc. Have reformatted, reinstalled OS, etc., but it's still not very stable.

XP is reputed to be far more stable. But my sense is that older machines were geared for Win98, not XP. So my question is, is it advisable to reformat the HD and install XP-SP2, for which I have a CD?

emachine 500mhz, 256 ram, 10g hard drive..... with Windows XP Home.

.... and it runs like a champ! I use my pc mainly for the net and a few word processing.... you shouldnt have any problems at all, unless you do a lot of gaming.

I was running 98 2 months ago and didnt like it... went to win 2000 and that was a lot better... now im on xp and i love it.
