Hello ! Currently taking a class that requires to download Adobe Photoshop (Ps). I watched several tutorials showing how to proceed but it’s not working on my end . I keep receiving the following error message on the pictures below. To be honest I don’t understand what is going on. Please if someone could help me I will be extremely grateful.
please don’t hesitate to share any ways you know in order to make it work.
Thank you very much
Ari

Hello! To confirm, Adobe officially does not support any of its programs in Linux OS. In the community boards for Adobe, there are some talk of using WINE, but that is something we cannot support at this time as it's not from official Adobe staff.

I run an elderly copy of CS2 under WINE in Puppy Linux. I bought this back in the day, when I had a lot more coming in. It may be old, but it's still plenty powerful enough for what I need. I was 'lucky' with this one; due to changes in the way that Adobe distributed, activated & supported Photoshop, CS2 is the very last version that runs without issue under WINE or PlayOnLinux.

Unlike many PS users, I've also used the GIMP for years. Both are raster graphics editors; I admit there's sufficient difference in the way they do things to make it seem alien to anybody used to PS.....but I've used both for so many years I can switch seamlessly from one to the other & carry on with whatever I'm working on.....without even thinking about it.

Too many people get stuck in a rut with what they do, and are afraid to experiment with different ways of doing the same thing. And too many online courses automatically assume that you WILL be running Windows.....

(*shrug...*)

If you visit the following URL, the very first screenshot - top-left corner - is one I myself submitted, along with a report about CS2 running under WINE in 'Puppy' Linux, to the WineHQ database.....around 3 years ago:-

Thank you very much for taking the time to answer. And I think you right , I am going to learn to use GIMP , I guess it scared me because I will be on my own and won't have the instructors support would I be stuck , since they exclusively teach using Adobe . Wish me luck!

There's a whole page full of GIMP "reference" tutorials here - @ Gimp.org - and TBH, you only have to visit YouTube and enter basic search terms to find tutorial vids about any aspect of the GIMP you can think of.....there must be thousands of them out there in the public domain.

Just remember one thing, and you'll not go far wrong; the GIMP is no better, or worse than Photoshop.....like so much Linux software, it's just DIFFERENT. But there has to be something going for it; it has, after all, been under continuous development for the best part of 20 years...

I use GIMP and learned almost everything from YouTube. There are many helpful videos. But PS and GIMP are different. But from what I have seen, with some effort, almost everything PS can do can be achieved through GIMP. Different methods, user interface, techniques and so on.

Again the OP is taking a class that requires Photoshop.
She doesn't need help with using a replacement. She asked for help on how to install Photoshop in Ubuntu and we posted that this is not possible.
