Hello, my house is quite big and the router it placed in a very inconvenient place at the moment and cant really be put anywhere else. when i am on the other side of my house my wifi is only just in range. I was wondering if there is something i can get or do to increase the range of the wifi. Maybe another device that resends the signal out. Also is there away to plug a computer in by ethernet but not being plugged into the router.

Thanks, Noel

Hi Noel, and welcome to TSG.

If the wireless router has detachable antennas, you could replace them with larger, higher gain, antennas. If all of the wireless devices that connect to router are in the same general direction, a directional antenna might help as well.

A WiFi repeater can also be used to extend the range by placing it about half way between the computer and wireless router. Here is a link to an example of one such device:

You can also get adapters that use the existing AC power lines for the connection. Depending on the house wiring and other conditions, you may not get the full advertised speed.. You may also run into problems if each adapter is on a different phase of the power line. Here is a link to an example of one such set of adapters:
