Ran into something this morning. Ran Ad-aware and Spybot and cleaned out most everything but lost the use of my IE searchbar (does not turn up any results, just a Page cannot be displayed message).

Here is my Hijack this logfile. What to get rid of???

Thanks for the lead but I think they had a different problem (the Search button on the toolbar not working). My Search button works, what doesn't work is typing anything in the Address box and hitting enter. That's what turns up a blank!

Also my apologies if I posted this in the wrong forum. I am completely new at this!

This is the problem, you may have removed this accidently:

R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - _{CFBFAE00-17A6-11D0-99CB-00C04FD64497} - (no file)

I noticed that you have IE6 installed, and Im not sure, but can you repair its installation in add remove programs?

If not, you can try to reinstall IE6 sp1 from MS site, or you can add the IE5.5 toolbar, the link is here but it may not work with IE6.

scroll down to Web Accessories from Microsoft
Internet Explorer 5 Web Accessories

Hey everyone, thanks for the help. After reading many HJT threads in Security (which is where this thread belonged, I believe) I decided to check
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://g.msn.com/0SEENUS/SAOS01
R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - _{CFBFAE00-17A6-11D0-99CB-00C04FD64497} - (no file)
and run fix. IT WORKED!
